Biography Constantin Brancusi (Brancusi Constantin)
(1876-1957)
Born in the village Hobitsa in Romania in 1876. After training at art schools in Craiova and Bucharest went to Paris and in 1904 entered the School of Fine Arts, which soon left on the advice of Rodin. A few years later, unsatisfied with realistic methods of treatment form, Brancusi sculpture group broke its transition through the Black Sea and began work on creating their own original style of the sculptural abstraction. He was one of the first people started to move in this direction. In the works of Brancusi to a much lesser extent, the influence of cubism and other styles of pictorial abstraction than in the works of other sculptors. His work has had a significant impact on the development of modern sculpture.
Brancusi excluded from their work all the realistic details, reducing the form to the simplest geometric effect, which could only imagine. It was interested in the rhythmic repetition. It is felt in such works as The Endless Column and the Statue of Adam and Eve. Brancusi accentuated the texture of sculptural materials used by him, preferring the smooth polished surfaces of stone and metal, or the roughness of rough hewn, cracked wood. He often makes a textural effects contrasting oppositions, . for example, exhibited a smooth marble ovoid head on a cushion of dark velvet or placed polished metal or alabaster fish on an oval mirror pedestal,
. Brancusi died in Paris on March 16, 1957.
