Abraham-Louis Breguet (Brguet Abraham-Louis)

Born January 10, 1747 in Neuchatel (Switzerland), ca. 1762 became an apprentice at Versailles. In 1792, during the French Revolution, went to Switzerland, in 1794 he returned to Paris and opened a watchmaker's.
Breguet attributed more than a dozen inventions t.ch. self-winding watches and clocks, repeater, anti-shock device and balance mechanism to adjust the accuracy of the. His famous spiral hair soon became widely used in the establishment of accurate clock. Breguet watches were made for such famous people like Marie Antoinette, Napoleon Bonaparte, the Duke of Wellington and Alexander I, and created the ship's chronometers, clocks in astronomical clock, designed for military purposes. His pendule sympathique (tabletop pendulum clock with high accuracy speed) were used to check and adjust the conventional watches. In 1807, Breguet was appointed as a staff specialist chronometry Navy France, and in 1816 elected a member of the French Academy of Sciences.

Breguet died in Paris on September 17, 1823.
