GRIFS Charles Tomlinson (Griffes Charles Tomlinson)

(1884-1920)
Born September 17, 1884 in Elmira (pc. New York). He studied in Germany at the FA Ryufera and E. Humperdinka; taught at the School for Boys in Tarrytown (pc. New York) - until his death April 8, 1920. His best compositions for the orchestra - Palace Entertainment Kubla Khan (The Pleasure Dome of Kubla Khan), and Poem for Flute and Orchestra (Poem for Flute and Orchestra). For piano sonata he wrote a wonderful evening Lake (The Lake at Evening) and the Roman Sketches (Roman Sketches), from which emerged his popular symphonic poem The White Peacock (The White Peacock).
