Biography Ibrahim Pasha
(1789-1848)
Born in Cavalla (now Greece) in 1789. It is not known whether he was a native or adopted son of Muhammad Ali. Distinguished father in military campaigns against the Mamelukes and the Arabian Peninsula, where Tusun succeeded his brother in 1816 as commander of Egyptian troops. In the wars against the Wahhabis proved himself an energetic and determined military commander, and by September 1818 forced them to surrender. In 1848, when his father lost his mind, Ibrahim became regent and performed these duties until his death on Nov. 10, 1848.
