Biography Yehudi Menuhin (Menuhin Yehudi)
(1916-1999) Born April 22, 1916 in New York. As an aspiring violinist prodigy studied with Z. anchor and L. Persindzherom; later, in Europe, his teachers were A. Bush and Dzh.Enesku. In the period 1926-1936 Menuhin frequent tours to different countries has always held with great success. In 1938, after two years, which he used to improve skills, Menuhin returned to concert work already as a mature artist. During the war, gave concerts in the army. In 1974, as a token of appreciation of the contribution to music Menuhin, he was elected honorary chairman of the music faculty of the University of California (Los Angeles). Menuhin - the founder of several music festivals and schools for gifted children in England. For several years he was chairman of the International Music Council of UNESCO. He was elevated to the dignity of knighthood (1965), but the title was only in 1985, becoming a British citizen. Menuhin died in London on March 12, 1999.
