NAORODZHI Dadabhay (Naoroji Dadabhai)

(1825-1917)
Born September 4, 1825 in Bombay. He studied at Elfistounovskom Institute in Bombay. Students participated in the movement for religious and social reform. In 1852, founded the Bombay Association, the first modern political organization in Western India.
In 1855 he moved to England as a trading partner firms 'Kama and to'. Presented papers on India in the scientific societies in Liverpool and London, participated in the foundation Vostochnoindiyskoy Association, tasked with the publication of the latest data on India. In 1873 Naorodzhi became sofa (Chief Minister) principality Baroda.

In his book Poverty in India (The Poverty of India, 1876) Naorodzhi argued that British rule will lead to 'pumping' of wealth from the colonies to the metropolis. Classic study Naorodzhi Poverty and non-British rule in India (Poverty and UnBritish Rule in India, 1901) played an important role in the awakening of national consciousness in India.

In 1885 Naorodzhi took part in founding the Indian National Congress (INC). Three times, presided at the congresses of the Congress (in 1886, 1893 and 1906). In 1892 he was elected to British Parliament. Made a Royal Commission to examine the financial situation in India. Died Naorodzhi in Bombay June 30, 1917.
