Suetonius Gaius

In his youth, practiced law, was a friend of Pliny the Younger. Later, when Hadrian, Suetonius was appointed Secretary of the emperor, gave him access to public records. However, in 121 Suetonius was deprived of his office, apparently in connection with some court intrigue. Date of his death is not easily defined, most likely, he died in old age. Of the many biographical, historical, antiquarian, scientific and philological works of Suetonius to have reached the labor of life twelve Caesars, describing the events in the period from Julius Caesar to Domitian. Preserved as excerpts from the writings of famous people: the majority of the section on grammar and conductor, brief biographies of Terence, Virgil, Horace, Persia, fragments of biographies of Lucan and Pliny the Elder.
