Paul Anthony Samuelson (Samuelson Paul Anthony)

Born May 15, 1915 in a family of immigrants from Poland to Gary (pc. Indiana). In 1923 the family moved to Chicago. Samuelson graduated from the University of Chicago, in 1941 received a doctorate in economics at Harvard University. In the same year began teaching at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (later professor at MIT). His labor Economics, first published in 1948, is used as a textbook in many colleges and universities in the U.S. and other countries. In 1960 Samuelson was an adviser on economic issues and presidents Dzh.Kennedi Johnson. In 1970 won the Nobel Memorial Prize in economics for raising the level of scientific analysis in economic theory. Collected Papers Samuelson published in 1966-1986. In 1980-1990-ies Samuelson has written several books on economics. His most recent publication - revised and expanded textbook Economics (Economics, 1998).
