Anna Freud was born on December 3, 1895 in Vienna and was the youngest of six children of Sigmund Freud and his wife Martha. Inspired by the pedagogical ideas of Maria Montessori, taught in elementary school. After the First World War, she as a secretary father, his companion and a nurse is fully immersed in the development of psychoanalysis. In 1938 the Anschluss of Austria led the family to move to London. Anna Freud has made a significant contribution to psychoanalysis. First, it codified and clarified the theory of operation of the ego, especially its defense mechanisms and instinctual impulses, much to clarify the role of aggression. Secondly, Anna Freud has found ways of psychoanalytic treatment of children, revealing their inner emotional and intellectual life. Thirdly, developed methods for applying psychoanalytic theory to help children and parents. In 1947 Anna Freud founded the Hampstead Clinic in London - the world's largest child psychoanalytic treatment and training center.
