Biography Max Scheler (Scheler Max)
(1874-1928)
Addressed in his teaching ideas R. Aiken and E. Husserl. Born in Munich, 22 August 1874, a teaching career began in 1901 in Jena, in subsequent years a professor of Munich and the University of Cologne. The most famous work is Scheler's Formalism in ethics and substantive ethics of values (Der Formalismus in der Ethik und die materiale Wertethik, . 1913-1916), . which extends the idea of B. Pascal 'mind of the heart' and construct a hierarchical system of values - the objective qualities, . which are revealed in human feelings, . have thus cognitive status (a so-called,
. 'logic of sense' as opposed to 'the logic of the intellect'). Kingdom of universal values is complemented by 'order of time', the scope of individual values.
The dualism of the universal and individual, and an even greater extent - the ideal and real, essence and existence, spirit and life permeates the whole metaphysical anthropology Scheler. As 'ascetic', absorbed an intuitive comprehension of pure ideas, the mind is powerless to turn them into reality, if they are not connected with the life instincts and material interests. Empowering the spirit energy of life would be at the same time a creation of 'complete man' of the future and the highest point of the movement, through which in the storms of world history, God has His eternal essence

. Among other works Scheler - About eternal in man (Vom Ewigen im Menschen, . 1921); essence and form of sympathy (Wesen und Formen der Sympathie, . 1923); forms of knowledge and society (Die Wissensformen und die Gesellschaft, . 1926); man's place in space (Die Stellung des Menschen im Kosmos, . 1928),
.

Scheler died in Frankfurt May 19, 1928.
