Biography Seamus Justin Heaney (Heaney Seamus Justin)
(p. 1939)
Born April 13, 1939 on a farm in Kasldousone (County Derry). He graduated from Queen's University of Belfast (1961), where he subsequently taught. In 1972 he moved from Ulster to the village of Glenmore, which is sung in a cycle of sonnets, and in 1976 he moved to Dublin, where he taught at Teachers College. Since 1982 - professor at Harvard University (USA), in 1989-1994 - Oxford University. In 1995, Heaney was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature.
In the first collections of the naturalist's death (Death of a Naturalist, 1966), the door into the darkness (Door into the Dark, 1969) and Zimov'e (Wintering Out, 1972) is dominated by bleak themes of land and death. Earth - the beginning of beginnings, 'soil' (in all senses of the word), the field of violence and creation, burial and rebirth, NC (geographical names) and decay. Loyalty to the ground and those who till it, - contribution to the pastoral tradition Heaney. In the collection of the North (North, 1975) he turned to the bloody history of Ireland, and then directly linked it with malice of the day and personal experience in field work (Field Work, 1979). Persistent themes and terms Heaney's poetry - the absorption of Celtic culture of English culture, . conflict of Catholicism and practical village skepticism, . correlation of the local literary tradition with European and unfathomable mystery of the Irish genius - extremely exaggerated in his masterpiece, . main poem collection The Island of repentance (Station Island, . 1984),
.

Love for a real living being is still evident in poems Lantern Hawthorn (The Haw Lantern, 1987). In the cycle of Vision (Seeing Things, 1991) the poet looks for dead father in his past and in the world of ghosts. Acute critical articles and essays, Heaney collected in the book Reflections (Preoccupations, 1980).
