Born in the family of the landed gentry. In 1876, Mr.. Smolensk graduated from high school, in 1880, Mr.. - History - filo - logical faculty of Moscow University. Before 1883. worked as a teacher of literature, history and logic in the Smolensk Maria girls' high school. Retired sickness. He settled on his estate, where he lived until 1892, collecting works of folk poetry. More than 50 of its research devoted to poetic creativity. In the post-revolutionary period gave lectures on the history of Russian theater in Smolensk, Vitebsk, Belarus People's University. In 1919, Mr.. The Bureau has organized an ethnographic study of folk life and work of Smolensk.
