On his return in command of 12 th Infantry Corps. Since 1940. - Chief of Staff of the Kharkov Military District. At the beginning of the Great Patriotic War - Chief of Staff of 18 Army, then its commander (October - November 1941), the Chief of the Bryansk Front (December, 1941. - January 1942), commander of the 62 th (July-August 1942), 30 th (November 1942. - April 1943), 63rd (May 1943) and 69 th (since April 1944. until the end of the war) armies. After the war he commanded the troops at Baku, the northern military district. Since 1956. worked in the central apparatus of the USSR Ministry of Defense. Awarded 3 orders of Lenin, Red Banner of 3 orders, 3 orders of Suvrova 1-st degree, orders Kutueova 1-st degree, Order of the Red Star and medals, and foreign orders. Killed while on duty in a plane crash. He was buried in Moscow at the Novodevichy cemetery.
