After the war - the chief of staff, assistant commander of the Infantry Division, Head of District Military Headquarters and the Division of the Office of the Red Army, commander of the Infantry Division, in 1935-37 he. - Commandant of Moscow, Deputy Chief of Staff, Chief of Staff and Deputy Commander of the Siberian Military District. During the Great Patriotic War, commanded the 16 th and 19 th army, acting on the territory of the Smolensk region. Under his command, the men the 16 th Army about a month waged fierce battles for Smolensk. In October 1941. assumed command of the 19 th Army, and then the whole surrounded by a group of Soviet troops in the area of Vyazma, bound with approximately 39 enemy divisions.
