Biography The SUGARCUBES
Day when Bjork son Sindri, and is considered the birthday of The Sugarcubes. Also Bjork in a new group included Einar and Sigg of KUKL, Thor Eldon (guitar), Braga Olafsson (bass) and Margret Ernolfsdottir (keyboards). After brief reflection, a name for the group will be the most idiotic, stopped at The Sugarcubes (Sugar Cubes). Apparently, after three years of anarcho-punk Bjork and her friends simply wanted to ride on the world and have fun.

Cubics first single "Birthday" was recognized by the British music magazine Melody Maker single of the week. The first attempt Cubes have reached what KUKL could not achieve in three years. Major record companies quickly assessed the potential of a new group of musicians and showered various generous offers, but they did not want to get into bondage, chose a small independent British company One Little Indian.

His first album "Life's Too Good" cubes released in 1988. The songs collected on it, represented the finest examples of pop music and the album received very good reviews. Cubics popularity grew not only in Iceland, but also outside. For example, in the U.S. Bjork still styled only as "the ex-vocalist of the Sugarcubes". Soon the band went on their first big world tour.

The new album "Here Today, Tomorrow Next Week", the musicians were guided by a very ambitious motto: "world domination or death". Released in 1989, the album was supposed to prove that the first success was not accidental, but he got worse reviews than the first. Critics Einar completely spun out of control, drowning out the voice of Bjork in a loud, insolent murmurs. Nevertheless, the album included many beautiful songs and an army of fans Sugarcubes continue to grow.

In 1992, the most recent album Cubics "Stick Around For Joy", which many consider their best work, and the remix album "It's It". Having decided to pursue a solo career, the group leaves Bjork, that is the end of The Sugarcubes. In the seven years of its existence Cubes made several world tours, speaking with such bands like New Order and U2 in huge stadiums in front of tens of thousands of spectators. Not bad for a group designed solely as a joke.
