EURYTHMICS

English duo. Founded in the 80 years, guitarist Dave Stewart (p. October 9, 1952, Sunderland). He introduced the world of rock music as still very "green" 15-year-old guitarist folk-rock band AMAZING BLONDEL. Dave took a real musician in the duo HARRISON AND STEWART. His partner was guitarist Brian Harrison, with whom Dave has recorded his first single, Deep December. In the mid 70-ies Dave Stewart was suffering from drug. At this time, Stewart had met at a London restaurant, a student of the London Royal Academy of Music Annie Lennox (p. December 25, 1954, Aberdeen, Scotland, vocals).

In 1977 they created with Pete Combs trio THE CATCH and released the single Borderline / Black Blood, which became a hit in Holland. In 1979 the group has grown considerably and they were renamed in THE TOURISTS.

In September 1979. band broke up, leaving the musical culture of the three albums: The Tourists, Reality Affect and Luminous Basement, which absorbed the energy of fashionable <new wave> and pop culture. Stewart and Lennox went to West Germany in Conny Plank studio and recorded there for a few of their demos. And in 1980, after a week of Session, a new duo EURYTHMICS. Signing a contract with RCA, the group almost fell through with the first single Never Gonna Cry Again, who at the very peak of its popularity in 1981 reached only 63-th place in the British charts.

Debut album In The Garden with a hard electronic sound in the cold German style has further aggravated the already deplorable situation of commercial. He did not even hit the British hit parade. In 1982, professional dull synth single Love Is A Stranger with vocals by Ann was able to rise again in the 54 th. This small success gave them confidence and have the next single, Sweet Dreams / Are Made Of This brought them recognition both at home and overseas, which sold over a million copies.

In the early 90-ies Lennox and Stewart decided to do their own careers. Later, the group still gathered once again to please their fans, but plans for the future they had not. Emissions music market a selection of the most successful concert recordings for his fans, Dave and Ann went in all directions. Dave chose a career producer and lyricist, created for the entertainment of his project SPIRITUAL COWBOYS. And Anne Lennox with her rare gift of vocalist began her solo career, releasing two albums Diva (1992) and Medusa (1995). In early 1999, the duo reunited once again in the second half and recorded the album "Peace".
