The Germans managed to withdraw across the river, forcing the villagers Perevolochna sink the boat, so that they could not take advantage of the advancing Soviet Army. Evaluated the situation Buslaev came to the conclusion that the immediate force the day the river will not succeed. Second, although long before the withdrawal to the Dnieper in the villages of the Vorskla River and other rivers of the collected everything that could be used for forcing, ferrying funds division was far from enough. Thirdly, not all parts came to the river, and absolutely no ammunition for the artillery, whose arrival was expected by the end of the day. All of these convincing arguments presented by the army commander, were taken into account, and the division was ordered to begin the crossing of the Dnieper, after a brief training on the night of September 27.

The onslaught of parts division was so powerful that the enemy left the bases on shore and retreated. Only in the afternoon, the Germans recovered from the unexpected force of the blow and made a counterattack, putting to regain lost ground. But it was too late: the Soviet soldiers tightly clutched the Dnieper shore and did not retreat a single step.
