W aytsev Ivan Nikolaevich - Chief of Staff, 209 th Guards Rifle Regiment (73rd Guards Rifle Division, 57 Army, the 3rd Ukrainian Front), the Major. Born March 8, 1923 in the village of Lenin (now Б? city of Volgograd region), in a working class family. Russian. He lived in the village Vladimirovka (now Akhtubinsk Б? city of Astrakhan region). Graduated from high school. He worked as a teacher of secondary school.
In the army since 1941. In 1942 he graduated from the Stavropol military infantry school.
Member of the Great Patriotic War in September 1942. The Major Zaitsev I.N. distinguished in Belgrade operation. On the night of October 20, 1944 two battalions undertook to force the Danube near the village of Batina (Yugoslavia), and captured the bridgehead on the left bank of the river. During the day the battalions reflect continuous counterattacks. On the night of October 21, 1943 crossing on the left bank of the regiment, and held the bridgehead until the main forces of division.
