Biography Hermaszewski Miroslav (HERMASZEWSKI Miroslaw)
The first Polish cosmonaut. Born September 15, 1941 in the village Lipniki in a large family of land-hungry peasants. In 1943 he lost his father, who died in battle. From an early age interested in aviation. Even in primary school went to a model airplane circle. Then he studied gliding. Identity glider pilot received before the passport. In 1961 he graduated from high school and enrolled in Demblinskoe Military Aviation School. After graduating from college he served in parts of the fighter defense of Poland. From 1969 to 1971 he studied at the aviation department of the Academy of General Staff of the name of Karol е wierczewski.

Graduated with honors and continued his service in the aviation wing of the Polish Army. In 1975 he was appointed commander of the regiment of fighter aircraft. In 1976, together with other Polish pilot Zenon JANKOWSKI was selected for training for flight on a Soviet spacecraft program Intercosmos. In December of that year, began training at the Cosmonaut Training Center named after Yury Gagarin. It has been a crash course in preparing to fly into space aboard the spacecraft "Soyuz" and orbital station "Salyut-6". From June 27 to July 5, 1978, along with Soviet cosmonaut Pyotr Ilyich Klimuk flew into space as a cosmonaut-researcher spacecraft "Soyuz-30". Within seven days, the astronauts have worked aboard the orbital station Salyut-6 "with members of the main crew, Vladimir Vasilyevich Kovalenko Aleksandr Sergeyevich Ivanchenkov.

Mission duration was 7 days 22 hours 2 minutes 59 seconds. Then he returned home and continued to serve in the armed forces of Poland. In 1981, after the introduction of martial law in Poland, was a member of the Military Council of National Salvation. In 1982 he graduated from the Military Academy of the General Staff of the K. Voroshilov in Moscow. In the same year was appointed head of the Polish flight school "School eaglets". Then he was Deputy Chief of the General Political Directorate of the Polish army and served in that position until 1989, when the political authorities in the Polish army were abolished. Currently retired. On a voluntary basis is promoting space.

Hero of the Soviet Union (Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR from July 5, 1978). He was awarded the Soviet Order of Lenin and the Order of the Polish Cross of Grunwald the first degree, as well as other Polish decorations and medals. Awarded medal of Nicolaus Copernicus, Polish Academy of Sciences.
