Biography Laveykin Alexander
Astronaut Russia. Born April 21, 1951 in Moscow. In 1968 he graduated from high school. In 1974 he graduated from the Moscow Higher Technical School named after Bauman and was assigned to work at NPO Energia. Participated in the creation of a new sample space. In 1978 he enlisted in the detachment of Soviet cosmonauts (1978 a group of civilian experts? 10). It has been a full course of general space training and preparing to fly to the ship type "Soyuz TM" and orbital stations Salyut and Mir. His space flight began on Feb. 6, 1987, together with Yuri Viktorovich Romanenko as flight engineer of Soyuz TM-2.. During the 174 days he worked on board the orbital station "Mir". During the flight made three EVAs overall lasting 8 hours, 48 minutes. Returned to Earth along with the Alexander S. Viktorenko and Syrian cosmonaut Mohammed Ahmed Faris on board the spacecraft Soyuz TM-2. Length of stay in space was 174 days 3 hours and 26 minutes. After the flight continued to work at the Cosmonaut Training Center named after Yury Gagarin.
Hero of the Soviet Union (Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of 30 July 1987). He was awarded the Order of Lenin. The highest award of the Syrian Arab Republic - Order of Hero of Syria.
