Biography Sollogub Vladimir
Sollogub Vladimir Aleksandrovich, Count (1813 - 1882), writer. Born on August 8 (20 NS) in St. Petersburg in a noble aristocratic family. Received an excellent education at home, a program which determined the father, a well-known art lover.

In 1829 - 34 studies at Tartu University, after which returned to St. Petersburg, serves in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then an official for special assignments Tver Governor.

Proximity to the salon Karamzin, the son whom he studied at the university, allows Sollogub expand and strengthen its literary connections. Meets Pushkin, Gogol, Zhukovsky, Lermontov, and other famous writers of the time.

Literary debut Sollogub held in 1837 in the "Contemporary" novel "Three groom" and the explicit literary success brought him the "History of the two rubbers, printed two years later in" Notes of the Fatherland ". Here in 1840, publishes the novel "Big Light" and the first seven chapters of tarantas ".

After experiencing some impact, Gogol noticeable in the History of the two rubbers, Sollogub soon finds his theme: the life of secular society. Belinsky welcomed prose Sollogub, seeing in it the new features: "The Count Sollogub is one of the first places among the writers of the new school. This is a decisive and definite talent, talent, strong and brilliant ".

In 1841 came the story "Lion", then "pharmacist" - one of the best things a writer.

In 1845 was published in full "The carriage", the most famous work Sollogub, which has become an extraordinary phenomenon in Russian literature.

After 1845 he wrote mainly vaudeville and articles on musical and theatrical life. In 1856 received the title of the court historiographer.

In 1858 was sent abroad to study European theaters and wrote a comedy "The proof of friendship", as set out in 1859 in Paris.

In 1865 Sollogub was elected a member of the Society of Russia's literature, when entering into that read a report on acquaintance with the best writers of his time. Later write a series of memories of them.

Died V. Sollogub in Hamburg on June 5 (17 NS) 1882.
