NOTEN Van Dries (Dries Van Noten)

Dries Van Noten was born in 1958. in Antwerp, in a family where the tailor's skill was inherited by three generations. Most of his early childhood memories were connected with the fashion world, and there was no doubt that the boy will inherit the family profession and become a fashion designer. After school, he enrolled at the Antwerp Royal Academy, the faculty of fashion, learning which began work as a freelance designer, the collections for several Belgian and Italian brands.

Having a natural talent not only creativity, but also for commerce in 1985. Dries Van Noten has created his own business and introduced the first small collection in a small shop Antwerp. And the following year in the 'Antwerp Six', he showed in London menswear collection, which has been recognized not only the press, and buyers of such famous stores as Barneys New York, Whistles in London and Pauw in Amsterdam. The first collection of women's clothing was shown in 1987, a year later Van Noten has signed a licensing agreement with Japan.

In August 1989. Antwerp opened a three-storey shop Het Modepaleis, located in a house built in 1881. directly in the center of the city - the embodiment of flourishing fashion empire Van Notena. Gradually a small empire Dries Van Notena expanded: the opening of two show-rooms in Paris and Milan in 1993. allow designers to work more closely with representatives of trade, and in 1997. opened two new stores - in Tokyo and in Hong Kong. Now things are a trademark Dries Van Noten is sold in 15 shops of Belgium, 160 stores in Japan and about 350 stores in other countries, including Russia (Le Form).

Dries Van Noten is able to perfectly combine the opposites - simple and sophisticated, classic, traditional and avant-garde. Creating each thing, the designer carefully think about all the details of combining fabrics and colors, transforming them into a modern, tasteful model. Many materials are produced exclusively for the brand Dries Van Noten. And love Van Notena to India and its culture, often reflected in the work of the designer.
