Biography Karahan Lev Mikhailovich
Karahan N. M. (1889-1937) - Soviet diplomat, joined the revolutionary movement in 1904. In 1913, Mr.. St. Petersburg entered the interdistrict organization RSDLP. In autumn 1915 the. was arrested and deported to Tomsk. Upon his return to Petrograd after the July days, joined the Bolshevik Party. In August-October 1917. was a member of the presidium and secretary of the Petrograd Soviet of Workers 'and Soldiers' Deputies. During the October Socialist Revolution, a member of the Military Revolutionary Committee. In 1917 - 1918 Messrs. secretary and member of the Soviet peace delegation at Brest. In subsequent years - in a responsible diplomatic work: Deputy Commissar for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador to China, ambassador to Turkey.

Karahan (real name - Karahanyan) Lev (20.1.1889, Tiflis - 20.9.1937), diplomat. The son of a barrister. Studied at the Faculty of St. Petersburg University (not finished), an external graduated from Tomsk University (1916). In 1904 joined the RSDLP, Menshevik. Conducted Party work in Harbin, St. Petersburg. Since 1912 participated in the trade union movement. In 1915 he was arrested and exiled to Tomsk. Released February Revolution, returned to Petrograd, a member of the Duma and the Petrograd Petrograd District Council. In May 1917, including "Interdistrictite" was passed in RSDLP (b). Since August. 1917 members of the Presidium of the Petrograd Soviet. On Nov.. 1917 Secretary of the Soviet delegatsii.na peace negotiations in Brest-Litovsk. Since March 1918 Deputy. People's Commissar for Foreign Affairs of the RSFSR. Since 1921 Ambassador to Poland, Sept.. 1923 - August. 1926 - China. In 1927-34 Deputy. Commissar for Foreign Affairs of the USSR. In 1934 transferred to the post of Minister of the USSR in Turkey. 3/5/1937 recalled to Moscow and arrested. Sentenced to death. Shot. He was posthumously rehabilitated.
