Biography Adolf Bartels (Bartels)
Bartels, Adolf (Bartels), (1862-1945), professor, literary historian, supporter of National Socialism. Born November 11, 1862 in Vesselburene. Author of historical novels, plays and poems with strong folk characters. Literary creativity combined with open anti-Semitism (eg, the monograph "Lessing and the Jews", 1918). Founded in 1920 the Union of People's publishers, became editor of the monthly magazine "Deutsches shriftum" (Germanic works "), which were printed in the main anti-Semitic article. Published "National Socialist liberation of Germany" (1924), which praised the Nazi movement, was commended by the Nazi leaders. Died March 7, 1945 in Weimar.
