Karl Mannheim (Mannheim)

Mannheim, Karl (Mannheim), (1893-1947), German sociologist. Born March 27, 1893 in Budapest. In 1930-33 Professor of Sociology at the University of Frankfurt. After the Nazis came to power, left Germany and moved to Britain, associate professor (1933) and professor (1945), London University (Graduate School of Economic Sciences). One of the founders of systematic scientific sociology. Author works "Freedom, Power and Democratic Planning" (1950), "Ideology and Utopia" (1951). He died in London on January 9, 1947.
