Biography TROOST Paul Ludwig (Troost)
Troost, Paul Ludwig (Troost), (1878-1934), German architect, who was closer to Hitler. Born August 17, 1878 in Wuppertal. For the first time declared itself by designing the interior of the German passenger liner "Europa". Its architectural style combines devoid of ornaments "Spartan" traditionalism and attraction to classical forms. In 1930, Hitler ordered Troostu rebuild Barlow Palace in Munich under the complex of buildings for the new party headquarters. Hitler was delighted with the work Troosta and has since considered him the best contemporary German architect. He often visited the studio Troosta and long considered the last work of the architect. Troost has designed many buildings, including House of German Art in Munich. Any architect who dared to criticize the work Troosta immediately declared unsuitable for work on public projects. Troost died in Munich, March 21, 1934. At the post he was succeeded by court architect, Albert Speer.
