Gustave Flaubert (Flaubert) (1821-1880) - the famous French novelist, the head of the realist school in France. First-class master of style, Flaubert created the classic examples of French prose. Most famous for his novel "Madame Bovary" (1857). A realistic picture of the mores of society is drawn in this novel - the suffering of a woman's soul is sucked in routine life of a provincial Roman Sentimental Education "(1869) - is a story of failures and disappointments of a young man. Historical fiction (novels "Salammbo" 1862; "Herodias, 1877), clearly Reconstructive different historical epochs, was based on modern political association and of the constant biological beginning of human nature. Unfinished satirical novel "Bouvard and Pekyushe" (published 1881), a parody of "Lexicon truths" (published 1910). A brilliant stylist, Flaubert influenced the development of realism in world literature.
