Kavan Liliana

Directed by Liliana Cavani was born in 1936. She graduated from the University of Bologna, then studied at the Experimental Film Center in Rome.

Since the early 60-ies working on a series of historical television documentaries "The History of the Third Reich", "Petain: The process in Vichy". In 1966 a feature-length film "St. Francis of Assisi," which was released only in 1972, and then the historical film "Galileo".

The film "Night Porter" (1974) brought the director to world fame. The love story of Nazi officer and his victim from a concentration camp and still is her best-known work.

In each film directed by the greatest attention is paid to the psychology of the characters who do not embody the social and artistic types, not the bearers of recognized ideas.

Limit the naturalism of paintings in conjunction with their psychological certainty spawned a new type of films about fascism, which could not accept the ideology of the socialist countries.

The most complete expression of the director's poetics Cavani can be seen in the film "Hidden" (1980), shot to the product of Malaparte the arrival of American troops in Italy at the end of World War II.

In 1989, Cavani again turned to the person of Francis of Assisi, removing the film "Francesco", in which the main role played by Mickey Rourke
