Biography BERG Aksel Ivanovich
BERG, Axel I. (1893, Orenburg - 1979), Russia scholar in the field of radio electronics and Cybernetics, Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1946), Engineer-Admiral (1955), Hero of Socialist Labor (1963).
Born in the family of a Russian general, a Swede by birth. Mother - Italian. He graduated from the Marine Corps. He served on the battleship "Tsarevich", during the First World War was a submariner. In 1923 he graduated from the Naval Engineering College, in 1925 - Naval Academy in Leningrad.
Author practical developments in the field of receiving and transmitting devices, radio direction-finding systems, works on radio technology. Active members address major development issues of Radio Electronics in the USSR. In 1943-44 he worked as Deputy Commissar for the Electrical Industry and deputy chairman of the Council on radar at the State Committee of Defense. In 1953-57 he was the Deputy Minister of Defense of the USSR.
Initiator and director of research in cybernetics and its applications. Creator (1959) and head of the Scientific Council of Cybernetics of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences. He has made a significant contribution to the rise in our country, bionics, Technical Cybernetics, structural linguistics, artificial intelligence.
