Biography BAROHA-AND-Ness Pio
BAROHA-AND-Ness, PIO (Baroja y Nessi, Pio) (1872-1956), Spanish novelist. Born December 28, 1872 in San Sebastian. He studied medicine and practiced for two years in the Castilian countryside, then some time owned a bakery in Madrid, before deciding to devote himself to journalism. In the early years of 20. participated actively in political life, twice ran for the Cortes of the Republican Party, but both times lost.
Baroha belonged to a so-called. 'generation, 98 the year', was his biggest representative. His novels are extremely varied in content. Written between 1900 and 1913 he collected in the following trilogy: "Land of the Basques" (La Tierra vasca, . 1900-1909), . which includes the "Lord of Labrasa" (El Mayorazgo de Labraz, . 1903) - one of his best novels, "The struggle for existence" (La Lucha por la vida, . 1904), . which included the "Search" (La Busca, . 1904), . "Weeds" (La Mala hierba, . 1904) and "Scarlet Dawn" (Aurora roja, . 1904) - a triptych of slum life in Madrid, "The Past" (El Pasado, . 1905-1907) - Country, . adventurous warehouse of Madrid romantic pores; "City" (Las Ciudades, . 1910-1912),
. In some of these novels, the author moved the scene from Spain to Paris, Rome and London. Baroha gave the name of "Memoirs of a man of action" (Memorias de un hombre de accin, 1913-1927) series of historical novels, in which he expressed his vision of Spain in the first quarter of the 19.

Concern regarding the action (activism) and its relationship with speculation most strongly voiced in the novel Barohi "Path to Excellence" (Camino de perfeccin, 1902) from the trilogy "Fantastic Life" (La Vida fantstica, 1913). The writer developed a new novel for the Spanish style of narration: the impersonal, imbued with pessimism, intellectual. Many consider him the largest Spanish novelist 20 in. Baroha died in Madrid on October 30, 1956.
