Xie Jun (Xie Jun) (p. October 30, 1970). Seventh world champion (1991-1995, 1999-2001). Born October 30, 1970 in Beijing. At 7 years old started playing Chinese chess, Xiangqi, and later switched to chess. In 13 years, was credited to the country's national team. The following year in the women's championship was the sixth of China, and in 1985 - third. In the world championship among girls under 20 years (Adelaide, 1988) shared second place. In 1989, China became a champion and in 1990 led the country's women's team at the World Olympiad (Novi Sad). In the struggle for world supremacy of its rise has been meteoric - in inter-zonal tournament (Kuala Lumpur, 1990) - 2 place, tournament contenders (Borjomi, 1990) - 1-2 places with A. Maric. In an additional match won Yugoslav - 4,5:2,5. It was a sensation: the first time rival world champion became the representative of the Asian continent.
