Romain, Jules (Romain, Jules; pseudo., Present. name - Louis Farigul, Farigoule) (1885-1972), French writer. Member of the French Academy (1946). Born August 26, 1885 in Saint-Julien Shaptey (dep. Haute-Loire). He studied at the Lycц?e Condorcet and the Ecole Normale Supц?rieure in Paris. In 1909-1919 he taught at high schools. One of the most prominent writers who were members of the union 'Abbey' (1906), founder of unanimizma - a literary movement, whose principles articulated in the poem "The unanimous Life" (La Vie unanime, 1908). Romain died in Paris on Aug. 14, 1972

Extremely prolific writer, Romain enjoyed a high reputation as a playwright, earning special recognition play "Dr. Knock, or the Triumph of Medicine" (Dr. Knock, ou le triomphe de la mdecine, 1923) and the comedy remake of Boris Johnson's "Volpone" (Volpone, 1928), carried out jointly with Zweig.

"People of good will" - a work portraying the collective, or persons under the influence of the collective. Breaking with traditional novelistic form, Romain refuses conventional building plot and the principle of unity of action arising from the relationship of the central characters.
