Biography Leopold Sedar Senghor
Senghor, Leopold Sedar (Senghor, Leopold Sedar) (1906-2001), a Senegalese poet (he wrote in French), scientist, politician. However martinikantsem E. Sezer developed the concept of 'Negritude' ( 'Negro spirit'), which became the catalyst for the liberation movement in French West Africa. The first President of the Republic of Senegal (1960-1980). Member of the French Academy (1984).

Born in 1906 in Zhoale (Senegal), studied in Catholic schools, graduated from the College and the Sorbonne in Paris on classical philology and French Linguistics. Member of the Second World War, member of the National Assembly of France in 1946-1959

To promote Negritude Senghor helped establish a culture-magazine 'Prezans africaine' ( 'Presence Africaine'), . and in 1948 published under his editorship of "The Anthology of New Negro and Malagasy Poetry" (Antologie de la nouvelle poц?sie nц?gre et malgache) with a preface by Jean-P.Sartra, . who called Negritude 'anti-racist racism',
. Given the lessons of Nazism, Senghor corrected their position and the centrality of the acquired not racial, and cultural differences, the idea was strengthened by the complementary action of African and European traditions. In verses Senghor high culture of French poetry 20 in. combined with the traditions of African folklore. In his book "The African countries of Africa and the path to socialism" (Nations et Voie Africaine du Socialisme, 1961) Senghor argued that the Socialism in Africa should build on the achievements of modern science and technology.
