Makvala Filimonovna Hammarby (p. 13. III. 1942, Kutaisi) - Georgian singer (lyrical-dramatic soprano, performs as the party high mezzo-soprano). People's Artist of USSR (1986), laureate of State Prize of Russia (1998) and Georgia (1983). Outstanding singer of our time, the largest representative of the domestic vocal school.

In 1966 she graduated from the Tbilisi Conservatory in the class of Vera Davydova, in the same year she made her debut at the Bolshoi Theater of the USSR in the party Prilepa ( "The Queen of Spades" by Tchaikovsky) . Winner of the All-Union and international vocal competitions (Tbilisi, 1964, Sofia, 1968, Montreal, 1973).
