People's Artist of USSR (1936). Born June 18, 1874 in Moskve.V 1893 entered the Music and Drama School of the Moscow Philharmonic Society (Drama Class B. I. Nemnrovicha-Danchenko). After graduating from the college participated in a tour with Mr.. N. Fedotova. In 1896 - 1898 worked at the Yaroslavl Theater and the Theater F. Korsch in Moscow. From 1898 - Actor and Director of the Moscow Art Theater in 1943 as director of the Moscow Art Theater of the USSR. M.
