Painter. Portraitist.
Born in the Ukrainian city Myrhorod in the family of artist-icon-painter, who studied painting. He was invited to paint a house in Kremenchug, where we stayed Catherine II during a visit to the Crimea (1787).
In 1788 he went to Petersburg, where he became friendly with the major Russian writers and artists. He took painting lessons from famous artists, including, presumably, by Dmitry Levitsky.
