Born April 22, 1952 in g. Kirov (now Vyatka), Russian.
In 1975 he graduated from the Faculty of navigational Academy of Civil Aviation (r. Leningrad), specializing in engineer-navigator.
From 1975 to 1985 worked as a navigator in the Sverdlovsk united squadron, Ural Department of Civil Aviation. He flew airplanes An-24 Antonov An-12, Tu-154.
In 1985 he was transferred to Moscow in the Central Office of International Air Service Aeroflot. He was a navigator on the Tu-154, IL-86, Antonov An-124. Worked as the lead navigator-instructor training center for aviation personnel of JSC "Aeroflot", .
