GANIKOVSKY Igor

1950, Moscow. He graduated from the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys (1972). Lives and works in Bochum, Germany. Participates in the Russian and foreign exhibitions since 1976, the artist's solo exhibition was held in 1996 in Markisches Museum Witten, Witten, Germany. In his nearly abstract paintings Ganikovsky uses intense color combinations and compositionally adjusted geometric shapes. Thus the artist is characterized by an appeal to the metaphysical and philosophical issues, religious symbolism, spiritual quest of man and his eternal values. His works are held in the Museum of Modern Art, Poznan, and the National Gallery, Warsaw, Poland; State Tretyakov Gallery and the Pushkin Museum of. A.S. Pushkin, Moscow; Ludwig Museum, Cologne, and the Kunstmuseum Bohum, Bochum, Germany, as well as several other private and public collections.
