1885, Rujiena (Latvia) - 1938 (?) [According to other sources - 1944]. He studied at the Riga City Art Institute (1913-15) in PU OPKh in H. Roerich. In 1918, after participating in the revolution, he moved to Moscow. He studied at the Higher Art and GSHM have to. Korovin and K. Malevich, where later he taught. It is an active member of the avant-garde movement. Klutsis - one of the founders of the Soviet political art of photomontage and artistic design. Member INKhuK (since 1923), moving closer to the "production workers" (constructivists). Participated in the design of the International Exhibition of Decorative Arts in Paris in 1925.
