Biography Snout Vassian
Born in the early XV century, was a kinsman Joseph Volokolamskoe. As a youth he came to Borovsky monastery to the saint Pafnutii and was one of the first and favorite of his students. As bishop of Rostov, was engaged in the modernization of Churches. Was considered "Demosfenom" of his time. Especially known for his eloquent message to the Grand Duke John of Ugra (published in "Steppes. kn., t. II, p. 140 - 149) and administrative charter ( "Act. Michael. exp., t. I, N 85). The Grand Duke had chosen him as a mediator in quarrels with his brothers, Boris and Andrei Volokolamskoye Suzdal. Twice he went to them, but without success. Vassian was, incidentally, one of the few defenders while walking Posolon (the sun). Died March 23, 1481, Mr.. Nicknamed "Snout" Vassian was supposedly because he had a passion to dig a big pond.
