Biography GILTEBRANDT Pyotr Andreyevich
(1840 - 1905). Educated at Moscow University. Worked in the "Day" IS. Aksakov and "Voice". Published "Collection of monuments of folk art in the Northwest Territory" (Vilna, 1866). Vilna are reviewing a public library and inventoried it, under the title: "Handwriting Vilna Branch Public Library. Tech. I. Church Slavic manuscripts. Tech. II. Russian parchments "(Vilna, 1871). He managed to find Turov Gospel, which he published with his explanations (Vilna, 1869). However NI. Kostomarov edited the Proceedings of the ethnographic expedition to the statistical western Russian region, equipped Imperial Russian Geographical Society "(T. I, "Beliefs and superstition"; t. II, "Little-Russian fairy tale"; t. VI, "Traditional legal practices on the decisions of capillary vessels, and t. VII, "The Poles. Jews. Tribes nemalorusskogo origin. Malorussy. Statistics, village life and language "). In the Archaeological Commission published "Russian Historical Library" G. published three books of "Monuments of polemical literature in western Russia" - a valuable contribution to the literature of the history of the Russian Church and the Russian paleography. His other works: "Background and explanatory dictionary of the New Testament" (6 kn., St. Petersburg., 1882 - 1885) and "Help and explanatory dictionary of the Psalter (St. Petersburg, 1898). - See: "Church Bulletin", 1905, N 50, "Historical Journal, 1906, January (obituary).
