(ca. 390 - OK. 320 BC)
Founded in 339 g. BC. own school of philosophy. Later GP. tried to expand the range of philosophical ideas of Plato with the idealistic elements of Pythagoreanism. GP. had a reputation as a brilliant writer with a thirst for the paradoxical, the characters of his dialogues, as a rule - historical characters (in t.ch. - Thales, Pythagoras). Insight GP. expressed in the hypothesis about the structure of the solar system, which is the adoption of the idea of daily treatment of the Earth has become qualifiers for the emergence of the theory of Aristarchus of Samos and Copernicus on the heliocentric system of the world. In the dialogues GP. discussed such astronomical theory of how Earth's rotation around its axis, the rotation of Venus and Mercury around the sun, the sun - around the Earth (Wed. Braga system of the world), the heliocentric hypothesis, and even ingenious conjecture about the existence of other planetary systems (each star - a world containing the earth ..."). GP. known as a mystical astrological constructs in the spirit of Pythagoreanism. Astral concept of the soul ( "soul - the light, originating from the Milky Way) clear to be combined with the denial of substantiality of the soul in a dialogue on that in Hades".
In physics, as opposed to immutable and beskachestvennym atoms of Democritus, GP. developed the idea of affitsiruemyh "nonconjugated molecules, with qualitative differences and managed divine universal reason.
Of widespread in those days of musical works GP. preserved only fragments.
