Biography BUSTAMANTE-AND-RIVERO, Josö? Luis (Bustamante y Rivero Jos Luis)
Born January 15, 1894 in Arequipa. Graduated from the Faculty of Law Arekipskogo University and began a successful practice. In 1930 participated in the overthrow of the dictatorship of Augusto Legii. From 1934 to 1939 - the Peruvian ambassador in Bolivia, in 1939-1942 - in Uruguay. In June 1945 he was elected president of Peru for six years with the support of the alliance of the Left parties, which also included Apristskaya Party of Victor Raö?l Haya de la Torre. Three years later, on Oct. 29, 1848, Bustamante was ousted in a military coup by General Manuel A. Odrö´a.
