Richard Jordan Gatling (Gatling Richard Jordan)

(1818-1903)
Born September 12, 1818 in Hartford County (pc. North Carolina) in the family plantation. From a young age helping his father in the improvement of agricultural machinery in 1839 and has already received his first patent - an invention of rice planter. In 1850 he graduated from the Medical College in Cincinnati (pc. Ohio), but the doctor never practiced. In 1844, settled in St. Louis (pc.
