Reviving the traditional commedia dell'arte,
Gozzi wrote a number of fantastic pieces he called 'fiabas'. The basis of their subjects lay children's stories, play themselves differ unusual situation, miraculous transformations and the presence of familiar characters-masks - Pantalone, Truffaldino, etc.. Gozzi wrote a 10 tales fiabas in t.ch. Raven (Il Corvo, 1761), Turandot (Turandot, 1762) and The Green Bird (L'augellin belverde, 1765).
