Mallarme led a modest life of a teacher of English, but the famous 'Tuesday' he gathered the most famous European writers and artists of the time.
He drove to the extreme views 'parnassians', arguing that 'poems are not made of ideas and the words'. In his writings repeats the idea that the poet - is a creator of myths, but the modern myth, who is also a myth of creation, must be abstract. The whiteness of a sheet of paper lying in front of a poet, is similar to the infinite void from which God creates the world.
