Biography Wilhelm Furtwangler (Furtwngler Wilhelm)
Born January 25, 1886 in Berlin. FurtwÃ¤ngler is equally great, and as an opera and a symphony orchestra conductor; tops his repertoire were works by Beethoven and Wagner. Although FurtwÃ¤ngler made many appearances in different European countries and the United States, the center of his work has always been Germany, especially Berlin, where he was for many years was the leader of the Philharmonia Orchestra and State Opera. FurtwÃ¤ngler remained in these positions, and after Hitler came to power. In 1947, he had to formally withdraw the charge, in collaboration with the Nazis, and in 1952 he returned to the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. FurtwÃ¤ngler died in Ebershtaynburge under Baden-Baden November 30, 1954.
