Biography å?tö¨s Faith (Stoss Veit)
(1440/1450-1533) The place of his birth was Poland or Germany. Polish his name sounds like Wit Stvosh or Stosh (Wit Stwosz; Stosz). From 1477 to 1496 he worked in Krakow. In this city, he created one of his finest works - an altar in the church of the Virgin Mary (1477-1489). From 1496 until his death in 1533 the sculptor worked in Nuremberg. In style and nature of the tracks works å?tö¨s has close parallels late-arts in Southern Germany. Details interpreted by realistic; songs seem artificial and strained due to unnatural postures of the characters and too much detail draperies. Folds of the clothes are often very complex form, their mournful figure underlines the general mood.
One of the best works å?tö¨s, performed them in Nuremberg - the sculptural group of the Annunciation (1517-1518) in Lorentskirhe. As Cracow altar, the Annunciation carved in wood, it is preserved polychrome painting. å?tö¨s worked in stone, he is the author of two tombs of the Polish bishops in the councils of cities Wloclawek and Gniezno.
