Biography Espronceda, Josö? de (Espronceda Jos De)
(1808-1842)
Born in March 1808 in Almendralejo (prov. Badajoz in Extremadura). As a teenager, was in a secret society of young liberals'numantintsev '(' Los Numantinos'), in 1823-1826 was imprisoned in a monastery. Actively participated in the Revolution of 1830 in Paris, later made an unsuccessful attempt to raise an insurrection in northern Spain. Represented the Liberal Party in the Spanish Parliament.
The main part of the creative heritage Espronceda are great poems of the Salamanca student (El Estudiante de Salamanca, 1837-1840), Mir-Devil (El Diablo mundo, 1841) and a number of smaller works. Even his early poems are marked by romanticism, which finds its full expression in such works as Song of the Cossack (Canto del Cosaco) and the pirate song (Cancin del pirata, 1840). In these hymns of victory sound typical Espronceda moods of exaltation and grief. Salamanca student represents a synthesis of poetic order Espronceda. The images of the hero and heroine of the poem are derived from the author standing figures of the rebel and the victim. Poem Mir-devil, designed to symbolize all the strife and passions of men, left unfinished.

Espronceda died in Madrid on May 23, 1842.
