Biography Hodler Ferdinand Max (Hodler Ferdinand Max)
(1853-1918) Born in Gyurtselene (Canton Berne) March 14, 1853. In 1871-1876 he studied painting in Geneva, B. Menna, then traveled to Spain, and in 1892, before finally settling in Geneva, worked for a year in Paris. In 1914 the artist signed a protest against the destruction of the Swiss Germans Reims. Hodler is one of the prominent Swiss artists. His paintings are close in spirit to the works of modern masters. They are characterized by monumentality and laconic imagery, rhythmic solution composition, accentuated contours, smooth flowing lines of landscape. Hodler died in Geneva on May 20, 1918.
